Doug & Lois Fearing visit the Schools for Haiti
Fearing’s Audio Video Security co-founders Doug and Lois Fearing, just returned from a Vision Trip to Haiti to visit and check on the progress with Schools for Haiti (SFH), a 501C3 non-profit, in which Doug Fearing serves as a board member. Doug and Lois were joined by the SFH founder Gil Bailie and wife Bonnie, Bill and Bev Mansfield from OnTrack Communications in Stoughton (event sponsor for the Schools For Haiti fundraiser last May) and a mission team from a church in Annapolis, Maryland.
During the trip, the team performed a ribbon cutting ceremony at the SFH Grace Christian School. SFH just took occupancy of this building this school year after formerly operating out of a small church since 2006. The new school is complete with private classrooms, a common area, private kitchen, and staff offices.
The team also toured and inspected the SFH Nazarene School, Fontana School which just came on line this fall, and the Mountain School which recently received a new roof, paint job, and kitchen. When they were not touring the schools, they enjoyed spending time with the children – the most enjoyable part of their trip.
Haiti remains the poorest nation in the western hemisphere and 90% of education is performed by Christian and NGO’s. Schools for Haiti is one of those organizations.
SAVE THE DATE: Next year’s “Schools for Haiti” Dinner and Silent Auction will be held on April 30th at the Marriot West in Middleton. Please mark your calendars. Details to follow in an upcoming newsletter.
