The Atmosphere is more than student housing—it’s a multi-functional space designed for modern living, learning, and recreation. Fearing’s was invited by Steven’s Construction to bring AV expertise to the project, which included cutting-edge technology for study areas, communal spaces, and outdoor amenities.

Features

• Main Floor: Study lounge, private conference room, and lobby with background music and community display systems.

• Residence Floors: Study rooms with AV presentation systems.

• 3rd Floor: Outdoor atrium with an LED video wall and landscape speakers, plus an outdoor terrace with weatherized displays and speakers.

• 9th Floor: A podcasting room for student creativity.

• 12th Floor: Recreational amenities including a fitness center, rooftop pool deck, and lounge areas with video displays and background music.

All AV systems were unified under a Crestron control system, featuring touchscreen displays for easy operation.

Challenges

• Coordination with the Electrical Contractor: Kranz Electric performed much of the cabling work, requiring meticulous communication to ensure proper execution.

• Construction Timing: AV installation occurred during the final 25% of the project, necessitating close tracking of construction progress to maintain timelines.

Solutions

Fearing’s proposed an outdoor LED video wall for the atrium, which was accepted by the owner. By offering alternatives to the original bid specifications, the team saved the owner thousands of dollars while ensuring top-quality results
