Fearing’s, an established AV and surveillance system integration company, successfully undertook a monumental task in 2019. Our largest customer, Kalahari Resorts, entrusted us with the integration of AV, business alarm systems, control points, and structured cabling for their newest convention center near Madison and Milwaukee in Wisconsin Dells, known as the waterpark capital of the world. We were trusted with this project due to the longstanding relationship between Fearing’s and the Kalahari dating back to the resort’s launch in 2000. The size of the project and the technology used strengthened Kalahari’s position as the premier waterpark resort in the United States.
The Fearingโs legacy is defined by the difference weโve made and continue to make for our many partners like Kalahari. Understanding needs and delivering exceptional products and service continues to lead us down the road to successful, long-term partnerships.

Goals and Execution
The project aimed to enhance Kalahari’s reputation by providing a premier, high-tech convention center and water park facility that would serve Madison, Milwaukee, and the surrounding Midwest. To achieve this, Fearing’s took charge of all the structured cabling, AV, control points, business alarm systems, and security aspects of the project. The experienced team at Fearing’s collaborated effectively with the construction team, ensuring our work did not interfere with the construction process, thus maintaining the integrity of the building.
Technology Installed
The robust technology solutions, worth over $1 million, were designed to make the convention center a premier, state-of-the-art facility that would serve not just Madison and Milwaukee but the entire Midwest. The AV system included Panasonic and Christie projectors, Crestron control system, Crestron NVX Video over IP Encoders/decoders, OSC Audio Processing, amplifiers, speakers, Da lite screens, Shure microphones, and Cisco Switches.
On the surveillance system front, Axis Cameras and exacqVision Network Video Recorders (NVR) were installed to ensure the safety of the guests and staff.
The structured cabling installation comprised of General Cable Category and Fiber Optic cable, Panduit patch panels, fiber enclosures, Hubbell Equipment racks, Hoffman ladder rack equipment, wall plates, and connectors.
Challenges and Solutions
The primary challenge faced by Fearing’s was the tight time frame. Due to the nature of the work, most of the project had to be performed when the construction was nearing completion, ensuring a clean environment for the equipment installation. An event had already been scheduled at the premises, so our experts had a hard deadline. This constraint meant that Fearing’s had a limited window to install a vast array of high-tech equipment.
In response to this challenge, Fearing’s leveraged our extensive experience and highly skilled team to expedite the installation process without compromising quality. The team worked tirelessly and efficiently, demonstrating exceptional project management skills to meet the challenging deadline so the property was ready for the already scheduled event.
